Rainbow Adventure is a GIRL-LED camp!

What is a Program Aide?

Program Aides are 7th-12th grade Girl Scouts (collectively referred to as PAs) who are developing leadership skills and confidence as they lead 1st-6th grade campers in all camp activities. Under the support and mentorship of adult volunteers, these teen Girl Scouts learn to communicate clearly, teach activities, and work to develop an understanding of the abilities and characteristics of younger campers.  At camp, PAs lead either groups of younger campers (units) or activities such as crafts, outdoor skills, songs, games and more.

PA Progression

Explorer PA
The Explorer program is for Girl Scouts entering 7th or 8th grade with no prior PA experience or training. The Explorer program teaches basic leadership skills while allowing scouts to also have some less structured fun.  During camp, Explorers complete the PA Core Workshop, earn their Leadership in Action (LiA) Award, learn about leadership opportunities at camp, and plan a fun activity just for their group.  Explorers must first register as campers and pay the $100 Explorer program fee.  They do NOT attend pre-camp training.

Program Aides
The PAs help run our units and activities at camp.  All PAs are required to attend pre-camp training (see dates below).  The PAs who have completed their Explorer training, but have not yet worked at camp are called PA Apprentices.  The PA Apprentices must also attend the new PA training (see date below) and ask an unrelated adult to complete the online reference form.

Steering Committee
Be part of the team that decides what we’ll be doing at camp this year!  We need your input!  Make the camp theme come alive in our group and unit activities.  The 2025 meetings are scheduled for Feb 22th, Mar 8th, April 5th, May 17th, plus the retreat on March 22 at River Ranch GS Camp.  Please make sure you can attend at least two these meetings. If you wish to participate in the Steering Committee and not work as a PA, please email [email protected].
