Activity Unit Leaders
The Day Camp Activity Unit Leader role is to provide leadership and supervision of campers in an activity unit and deliver day camp program that is consistent with the Girl Scout Mission, Program Goals, Promise, Law, and all Girl Scouts of the USA and Girl Scouts of Western Washington policies and health and safety standards.

Service Commitment: The Day Camp Director will appoint the activity unit leaders for a one-year (renewable) term in which they can expect to provide a minimum of 50 hours of service, depending on the needs of the day camp. The service hours will be spread out over a planning and preparation period leading up to the opening of day camp and during the day camp session. This position is required to be at camp all week.
Supervision and Support: The Day Camp Unit Leader is supported by and accountable to Day Camp Business Manager who coordinates the volunteers. They are also supported by the Day Camp Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist execution of a program activity station as planned by the steering committee and activity unit PAs.
- Have skills, interest or experience in area of program specialty.
- Establish working relationships with Unit Leaders and Teen Leaders.
- Coordinate activities with other program areas, units, and all-camp programs.
- Assist PAs in a plan for supplies and equipment needed, and budget plan for the station.
- Adhere to agreed-upon program budget and schedule.
- If a program station, set up and maintain station area and equipment.
- Assist in providing for the health and safety of the campers.
- Compile reports and keep records as requested.
- Participate in all volunteer meetings, pre-camp orientation, final evaluations and closing camp procedures.
- If needed, meet with the Activity PAs to ensure they have a plan and supplies necessary for the activity stations.
- Submit any invoices or requests for reimbursement for expenses to the Business Manager according to the schedule and process established by the Leadership Team.
- Participate in evaluation at the end of camp
- Represent day camp and Girl Scouts in a positive light to campers, volunteers, guests, and the community.
Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge in the area of specialty as needed
- Good organization and communication skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with a team of volunteers
- Ability to coach teen program aides and assist without taking control of the unit
- Ability and willingness to promote the Girl Scout experience
